VSRZ4263I stayed near Brisbane with an amazing couple called Wendy and Mark who made me feel instantly welcome and at home. They made me feel part of the family and I’m so grateful to them for hosting me. They were really kind and fun and took me to see some amazing places. Some highlights were Byron Bay, Sea World and whale watching, going to watch an inter-state netball match and being introduced to Aussie rules football at a game held in the Metricon Stadium near Surfers Paradise. I held koalas and fed kangaroos at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, as well as seeing sick and baby koalas on a regular basis at the Koala nursery Mark worked at. I saw dozens of beautiful beaches and ate loads of really good food. We also went to the gold coast on multiple occasions which I loved, staying in two amazing hotels with views over the city and onto Surfers Paradise.
At camp Krocodile I met loads of really interesting people who I’m still in contact; I am planning trips to meet some of them in their home countries. There were nearly forty people at the camp; we went caving, canoeing, rock climbing, paddle boarding, and did lots of surfing. We were only five minutes away from the beach. On the last few days at camp we went to Australia Zoo and on the last day spent time exploring Brisbane before flying home.
Thank you to the Lions for making this trip possible.
