Charlie Holbrook

During the summer of 2018, I travelled to Frankfurt airport where I was welcomed by some really nice Germans. My host father took me immediately with my luggage and dropped me (and an Italian boy who became one of my closest friends on the trip) to his daughter's house for a wedding reception! It was great as everyone was so welcoming and interested in our adventure. After a great day of celebrating we went to our host's house which was very traditional German- perfect for an authentic experience! The following week was filled with visits around the local area of Saarbrucken with the other students on the camp. Everyone became great friends and we have plans to meet again very soon. After the first week with the host family, we were taken to a really nice hostel/hotel establishment which had great facilities to socialise when we weren't out exploring Germany. We were very well looked after and taken to some great places including France and Luxembourg! I'd like to thank the Lions International Organisation for giving me such an incredible opportunity to explore new parts of the world and make friends for life. 

Thank you again for such a great time again. It really is a truly incredible experience and I hope to do it again next year!
